Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (CC BY 3.0)
You are free to share and adapt the material for any purpose, even commercially — as long as you provide attribution. Read the full license text →
You can freely:
- Use the templates on client projects
- Modify, adapt, and customize freely
- Use on commercial & monetized sites
- Bundle into SaaS / digital products
- Redistribute modified versions
- Use in portfolios & case studies
Please don't:
- Remove the original attribution credit
- Re-sell the templates as-is on theme marketplaces
- Claim you authored them from scratch
- Imply endorsement by html.design
- Use our logo or brand in misleading ways
How to give attribution
The license requires you credit html.design visibly when you use a template. A single line in your site footer or project README is enough. Link rel="nofollow" is fine.
<p>Template by <a href="https://html.design" rel="nofollow">html.design</a></p>
If you've significantly modified the template (50%+ of the markup or CSS changed), a mention in the README or about-page is sufficient — no footer link required.
Commercial use
Yes, you can use every template commercially. That includes:
- Client work where you're paid to deliver a site
- SaaS products, marketing sites, landing pages for a business
- Paid digital products (courses, ebooks, memberships) that use the template as a marketing site
- Ad-supported sites, affiliate sites, and newsletters
You don't have to tell us, you don't have to pay us, and you don't have to credit us in a prominent way — a footer link is enough.
Can you re-distribute?
Yes, modified or unmodified, as long as you keep the original license intact and don't claim sole authorship. If you're running a template library of your own, linking back to html.design as the original source is appreciated but not required.
Exception: you may not re-upload our templates unmodified to commercial marketplaces like ThemeForest or Creative Market. That's a re-sale, not a re-distribution.
A note about images
Some templates include placeholder images from Unsplash, Pexels, or our own archive. Those images are covered by their respective licenses — typically Unsplash License (free for personal and commercial use, no attribution required). Check the image source before using any image on a production site, and swap in your own photography whenever possible.
No warranty
Templates are provided "as is" without any warranty. We've hand-reviewed every one, but we're not responsible if something breaks on your production server. Always test on a staging environment before going live.
Questions?
If you're unsure whether a specific use case is covered, email [email protected] with a quick description. We usually reply within a business day and err on the side of saying yes.
